Serving the Metro Atlanta Area.

Every Child Deserves Books of Their Own

In many Atlanta-area communities, children have limited access to books at home. The Little Library Alliance provides free books to elementary school children across metro Atlanta, helping families build home libraries and nurture lifelong readers.

Equity. Ownership. Community. Dignity.

Our Beginning

The Little Library Alliance began with a simple moment at a school book fair.

When I learned that only children with money could participate, it didn’t sit right with me. I donated funds so every child in my son’s class could choose a book that day. Thirteen children who would have otherwise gone without were able to purchase books of their own.

That moment revealed something bigger, a quiet gap between children who have access to books and those who do not.

I began asking: Who has books at home over the summer? Who gets to build a personal library? Who gets to fall in love with reading, simply because they have books of their own?

The Little Library Alliance was created to close that gap, starting in metro Atlanta and building toward a future where every child, everywhere, owns books.

Summer 5 Initiative

The Little Library Alliance was founded on a simple belief: ownership matters.

While libraries provide vital access to books, many children do not have books they can call their own. Book ownership fosters pride, repeated reading, and stronger literacy outcomes.*

We are building a community alliance across metro Atlanta to ensure every elementary school child can grow up with books at home.

Our signature program, the Summer 5 Initiative, partners with local elementary schools to provide 5 new, high-quality books to each child at no cost to the family or the school. Books are selected by the student and are sent home before the summer break to help build their personal library.
